What is the NDIS?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a government initiative that provides funding and support to people with a permanent and significant disability between the ages of 18-65. This support is designed to provide care in a way that enables participants to achieve their individual goals, while building independence and life skills.
How do we work for you?
The NDIS provides direct funding to individuals who are eligible the NDIS program. As a participant, you choose the provider you want to work with you, and identify the support you need in your daily life.
The first step is to develop an NDIS plan. This plan is specifically for you, your goals and support needs. This plan will provide details about the support you will be funded for, as well as the amount of funding you will receive for those supports. The following steps are required to get your plan.
- Contact the NDIS to determine eligibility. If you qualify, sign up for the scheme.
- Contact Path to Independence to discuss your needs.
- Attend your planning meeting to set up your plan.
- Your plan arrives and you are ready to implement your plan.
The planning process is important, it determines the type of support you will receive under the NDIS program. Once your plan is approved it will be valid for 12 months before being reviewed. If during those 12 months you require significant changes to your plan, it will be reviewed earlier.
